For years and years, I would make resolutions on January 1st which went promptly out the window by January 6th. Why? Probably because I wasn’t clear in my goal-setting process. Plus, the way I was doing it made me feel like I was punishing myself or depriving myself of something good, and I don’t like being told what to do, even it’s me!
Four years ago I began using a THEME for the year. I would spend some clarity and focus and thinking time to figure out what I wanted to happen for the new year and would find the over-arching theme for it. Here are examples of my last four years’ themes:
2017 - 2018: We had been renting two different farms for 6 years and we were sick of not being able do what we wanted to with the property and everything we did - saving money, getting rid of things we don’t need, packing up, etc. was under that theme. We chose and moved in to our new farm August 2018!
2019: Everything I did was focus on getting healthy. I had a full eye exam, physical check-ups and lost 20 pounds using the Keto plan. I started to meditate more often and start my yoga again.
2020: Enjoy the Journey was for my personal life, relationships and business. Boy did THAT get derailed with C-19 and basically everything grinding to a halt. But even with that adversity, I got to control how I moved through that time and space. Some of the journey I enjoyed and some I didn’t.
So what’s my theme for 2021? “Scale”. I am focused on scaling (increasing) my Brilliant Women business to be able to bring additional enriching and life-changing programs to more women in the world. To help me with that mission, I’ve hired a wonderful full-time virtual assistant who is everything I’m not: she’s a tech wizard, and is creative in making everything come together and look pretty, which allows me to share my signature programs and change lives for the better.
